Start by locating the studs in your bathroom where you want to hang your medicine cabinet. In order to make the storage unit stable, you need to secure at least two pieces of this to the wall.

Next, stain the individual pieces of the medicine cabinet before you assemble it. Doing so will make it easier to achieve a quality finish. When that is done, build the outside frame of the storage unit using 1-by-4s, wood glue, and some screws. Then, add a plywood back by tacking it to the back edge of the frame.

Once that is accomplished, install the hardware inside the framework so you can adjust the shelving according to your specifications. Proceed to cutting the wooden shelves or purchase ones that are made of glass. If you opt for the latter, ask that they be bevelled so they do not pose any danger.

Build a door for your medicine cabinet by making a thin frame that is about the same size as the whole unit itself. Attach it to a mirror with some construction adhesive. You can then make use of a piano hinge to attach the cover on one side of the cabinet. Finally, drill directly through the back of your medicine cabinet and into the studs.
