Keep Your Medicine Cabinet Organised
Common complaints like colds and headache are hard to avoid, which is why you need to prepare. You have to organise your medicine cabinet and supply it with essential treatments. This way, you will not have to hasten to nearby drug stores every time someone in your family gets sick.
The first step to arranging a functional medicine cupboard is to clean it thoroughly. Remove the clutter of bottles and tablets you have not used for many months. Expired products are dangerous so you have to get rid of them properly. Sort out medications that you have just bought and set them aside.
Next, look into the remaining medicines and see if these are enough to treat various common ailments. You have to prepare treatments for cough and flu, fever, allergies and digestive problems. Stock up on topical antihistamines, laxatives and cough medicines. You also need to have first-aid care items for burns or wounds. Stock your cabinet with antibiotic ointment, gauze, band-aid, medical tape and hydrogen peroxide. You should also keep important tools like thermometers, tweezers, and scissors.
Lastly, group items that go together. You can dedicate one shelf for different drugs. You can also use boxes and put labels. Potent medications should be placed on the top division so your children cannot reach for them. You can also opt to keep the cabinet locked up if you do not want your kids playing with tablets or syrups.
You have to remember that the best place to put your medicine cabinet is high up on the wall. This way, it will be difficult for the young ones to open it. You can install the cupboard in the kitchen or the bathroom. But the latter is the most suitable room for keeping your medications.
